Job Title: Credit Union Manager

Reporting to: The Board of Ballyhackamore Credit Union Limited

Summary of Role:
To manage and optimize the effectiveness of Ballyhackamore Credit Union; to review, adapt and implement agreed strategies and policy and procedures; to manage paid staff and maximize the efficiency of volunteers and ensure best practice and legal compliance with agreed financial systems and control policy and procedures.


Specific Responsibilities:

Working with the Board of Directors
• Develop and produce and present quantitative and qualitative financial
and narrative reports to the board
• Attend weekly meetings with the Treasurer
• Attend board meetings as required
• Ensure timely production of appropriate documentation and reports for
board meetings

Financial
• Develop and agree efficient Financial Control Systems procedures
• Ensure BHCU complies with appropriate financial services legislation
and best practice
• Assist in the management of investment portfolios
• Develop financial services packages
• Produce financial forecasts

Customer services
• Ensure the highest standard of customer care
• Systematically assess the needs and expectations of members and
potential members
• Expand the membership of the BHCU
• Expand the financial services on offer to existing and potential
members
• Review the opening hours of BHCU

Staff Management
• Responsibility for the management and development of the staff of
• BHCU including their support supervision and appraisal
• Recruit, select and induct new staff
• Ensure BHCU staff training needs are identified and met
• Optimize performance of staff including disciplinary action
• Implement and review agreed staff policies and procedures
• Ensure all Staff receive Health and Safety training

Volunteer Development
• Responsible for the recruitment, retention and development of BHCU
volunteers
• Provide leadership and support, supervision and training to volunteers
• Co-ordinate training in new legislation which affect BHCU volunteers
• Ensure all volunteers receive Health and Safety Training

External and internal communications
• Represent BHCU at external meetings as required
• Arrange and facilitate internal meetings with staff, board members and
volunteers
• Make presentations to encourage use of BCU services to appropriate
organisations
• Liaise with Irish League of Credit Unions /Field Officer, Registrar and
Accountants
• Promote new financial products and services to existing and potential
Ballyhackamore Credit Union Service Users
