How do I Volunteer?

At the heart of every credit union is its volunteers. Unlike other financial institutions, the board of directors in a credit union are made up of volunteers - members who have the skills and knowledge to lead and manage it. Whether you are looking for a leadership role, to gain experience and training or want to give something back to your community and meet like-minded people; credit unions offer invaluable volunteering opportunities.

Why do credit unions have volunteers? 

The credit union movement started with volunteers. When the credit union was established, members volunteered their own time to set up and manage these non-for-profit financial institutions within their community. Without the tireless work of its volunteers, credit unions in Ireland wouldn’t have been able to grow.  


Why volunteer at your credit union? 

Volunteering at your local credit union can give you the opportunity to gain valuable experience in areas of management, directorship while building life-long connections with like-minded people in your community.  

In return for volunteering, credit union volunteers are afforded the opportunity to;
