5 Supports for Health and Wellbeing during Level 5

As we head into level-5 restrictions for the next six weeks, the days are colder, the nights darker. 
But this time, things are different - we're more experienced. We emerged from the last lockdown, witnessed the generousity, compassion and support our communities are capable of. We braved it together, and used new means of communication. 

Below, we have listed a range of resources and supports available to help boost your health and wellbeing, should you need them during this time.

5 Supports Available During Level-5 Lockdown in Ireland

 

 1. Support Bubbles  

For those at risk of isolation, support bubbles have been proposed by the government. If you are alone, a lone parent, are a lone carer or care receiver, you can visit one other household (still maintaining physical distance, and preferably in the location you live), to form one, extended household.

2. Community Call  

Community call was set up to help those in local communities who need help accessing food, fuel or other essential items, need help attending medical appointments, or delivery of prescribed medicines, or hot dinners. Each local authority has a network of supports set up. You can call the national number, which is managed by the Charity Alone to be put through to your local authority – 0818222444. 3. Sport Ireland, Train at Home Programs 

Sport Ireland have links to a number of free online resources which help you exercise from home; including gym workouts from Sport Campus  Fitness manager, 10 minute circuit workouts from the Cara Institute, inclusive to those with reduced mobility or wheelchair users,15 minute seated workouts for older adults in additional to many more.

4. Mental Health Support 

If you are feeling stressed, lonely or low, there are a number of online and phone supports available, should you need to speak to someone, for a range of different reasons - never feel your situation isn't important.

 5. Supports for Parents and Children 

The Parents Centre offers a wealth of online resources for parents during the pandemic, and provides a starting point to access high-quality, trusted information and support.
