A community initiative in Whitehall, Co Dublin is helping people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s, along with their families and carers, connect with others in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The Making Memories Café, held at Whitehall Colmcille GAA Club, is a community-led initiative developed in partnership with Dublin City Council, the HSE, the Irish Alzheimer Society, Larkhill & District Credit Union, and the local GAA club.

Open to service users on the last Tuesday of each month, the café provides a relaxed social space where people can come together for conversation, music, refreshments and shared experiences. The initiative is supported by local volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of dementia through family members or loved ones.

Funding and operational support from Larkhill & District Credit Union has helped make the café possible, ensuring the monthly gathering can continue to offer a welcoming and comfortable environment for those attending.
