Ballyconnell Credit Union is supporting the West Cavan Bog Association through its Community Fund, helping to restore and protect Aghaweenagh Bog in West Cavan.

The Community Fund supports more than 70 local groups and organisations each year, providing valuable funding for projects that make a positive difference in the community.
For the West Cavan Bog Association, this funding has helped build community support around the restoration of Aghweenagh Bog. The project is focused on restoring the bog’s natural habitat and highlighting the important role peatlands play in supporting biodiversity and the wider environment.

The project has also attracted interest from bog restoration groups across Ireland, who are following its progress and exploring how the approach could be adapted for use at other restoration sites.
The work was recently featured as part of the national credit union For Communities campaign, highlighting the positive impact credit unions and their Community Funds have across communities.
