Powered By People - Local Business Edition

20 Nov 2020

This Christmas season here at the credit union, we're shouting out local Irish businesses to encourage people to make a concious effort to stay local and buy Irish in the run up to Christmas. 2020, as a whole, has been a tough year for everyone. However, throughout the pandemic we've seen the importance of our local community and how we are all Powered By People.

To kickstart our campaign we've featured five Irish owned and operated businesses who shared with us their stories. From poems to gift boxes and everything in between, there's something for everyone in Powered By People.

Caroline Duffy designs

Caroline Duffy is a printed textile designer and artist. Her passion is to surround everyday lives with colour and pattern, all inspired by nature. Nature is everywhere – it inspires us, it energises us, it keeps us grounded. Put simply, Caroline wants to create pieces which make people smile, feel good and make them think differently. Her mission is to make and design colourful pieces that creates vitality, happiness and intrigue to those who see them.

Whether its homeware or soft furnishing; a dress or swimwear, a painting on your office wall or home hallway, Caroline’s designs and artwork will always delight and energise your day.

Original paintings and art prints are available on her website www.carolineduffydesigns.com and she is also free for commissions for individual and unique pieces. Check out her FacebookLinkedIn and Instagram to view her designs.

Boxable was created by sister in laws Cate and Laura, with a simple yet meaningful mission in mind: to help people find joy in ordinary, everyday moments. From savouring a cup of tea or coffee with a scrumptious biscuit to a bubble bath after a long week, whatever the moment, Cate and Laura feel that we all deserve to carve out a little time to ourselves.

Boxable gift boxes are filled with locally sourced Irish products and work with a number of small businesses to curate our range. The gift boxes are for everyday moments and aim to promote the importance of supporting friends and family through tough times while also supporting local Irish businesses. This particular business was launched one month ago and this month Laura and Cate have sold over 500 Late Late Toy Show Boxes. To find out more about Boxable visit their website here, or give them a follow on Instagram.

Ceird are Katie and Ciara, beirt cailiní Gaelacha who have recently launched their bespoke greeting cards. All artwork is originally drawn and painted, printed, cut and embellished by hand so that every card is unique – líonta le grá!

Cards can be personalised or assorted packs are available.

 Bitta That Vintage Clothing Company

Katie and Ellen are two best friends who have always loved shopping second hand and investing in unique vintage pieces. This year they decided to make this passion into a venture. They wanted to provide some inspiration for people who have an interest in introducing second-hand clothing into their wardrobe, and with this idea ''Bitta That Vintage'' was born.
At Bitta That, Katie and Ellen focus on bringing you the most stylish bits in the business. Their aim is to source a wide range of vintage styles, each piece funkier than the last.
As well as being groovy vintage ambassadors, both Katie and Ellen absolutely love chattin’ vintage & want to open up the conversation on sustainable fashion in Ireland.
