Job Title: Business Development Officer
Reporting to: The CEO

Summary of the Role:

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying opportunities and building relationships that result in both active membership growth and increased lending, in accordance with the credit union’s strategic objectives.

The primary role is to foster, develop and maintain productive relationships with individuals, groups and business within our extensive common bond and to deliver increased active membership and lending.

Policy development and planning, with key responsibility to encourage new business into the credit union, is an important part of this role.  The role requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services our credit union can provide to our members and the credit unions competitors in general.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Be responsible for developing a business strategy for the credit union to ensure delivery of our strategic goal.

  2. Design and implement effective marketing campaigns working closely with the retained P.R. Company to ensure delivery of the same.

  3. Analyse membership trends and enhance member involvement through member survey/focus groups in line with CCU business development strategy.

  4. Develop Lending strategy to ensure continued growth in the loan book.

  5. Develop and interact with local businesses to foster good relationships with a view to beneficial increase in business for both parties.

  6. Develop the products and services of CCU to ensure growth of the products we offer.

  7. Develop youth campaigns to encourage younger members to join and support the credit union ethos in primary, secondary and third level education.

  8. Attend all PR event activities as directed

  9. Have the ability to work as part of a team as independently to achieve the desired results.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade C or above

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a result driven, customer focused environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: verbal/written and public speaking/presentation.

  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to adapt to new situations

  • Excellent attention to detail, with exceptional time and management skills.

  • A customer centric approach, focused on delivering continuous improvement in the services offered to our credit union members.

  • Proven target driven experience and delivery of quality results

  • Commercial focus, combined with the ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of digital marketing and social media.

  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team

  • Drive and enthusiasm for the credit union ethos.

  • A clean drivers licence
