The Rosses Credit Union is a community co-operative based in Dungloe, County Donegal. With  €18m in assets, ample reserves and a strong track record of successful lending, we now wish to appoint a new CEO. Reporting to the Board of Directors, s/he will be responsible for all aspects of the management, operations and compliance of the credit union and will play a pivotal role in its future development. Our new CEO will lead our talented and dedicated team as we continue a proud tradition of service to our members and local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the Board in the development of the credit union’s strategic plan and commit to its successful implementation
  • Ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including risk, data protection, AML/CFT, employment law and health and safety
  • Lead the lending activity, ensuring risk-managed growth in the portfolio and maintaining our strong loan quality
  • Manage the credit union’s performance to maximise the quality of service to members and ensure strong financial returns
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to the Board
  • Agree and manage performance and development standards for the staff team
  • Support the Board of Directors and Committee members in their Governance roles
  • Manage key external relationships and represent the credit union with regulatory authorities, our umbrella body, service providers, other credit unions and our local community

Candidates should have:

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the co-operative idea
  • A genuine focus on members, with emphasis on delivery and service quality
  • Previous experience in a similar or comparable role – 3 years or more, ideally
  • Strong and proven loan underwriting skills and experience, with emphasis on personal loans
  • QFA or another relevant qualification in credit, risk, finance, accounting or business
  • Excellent team leadership and motivational skills and a commitment to supporting staff colleagues and volunteers in reaching their full potential
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills
  • The personal integrity, competence and financial soundness appropriate for this senior role, which is subject to pre-approval by the Central Bank under the Fitness and Probity regime
