Overview
Payac Services Company Limited by Guarantee (“Payac”) is now inviting applications for the position of Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) on a hybrid basis.
 
Payac is leading innovation in the Credit Union sector. As a service provider with a proven track record and long-term partnerships with market leaders, Payac is the primary choice as payments partner for Credit Unions. Payac is a company established by Credit Unions to provide current accounts, debit cards and related services including SEPA payments via our third-party providers. The company assists Credit Unions in getting set up to offer current account services, SEPA payments, or migrate from their existing SEPA payments provider together with providing ongoing support for payment account services. Payac is ISO27001 and ISO22301 certified. Payac is now seeking to appoint a DPO, to ensure that all of our customers’ data is protected and that the company complies with data protection legislation as it continues to grow and expand its business offerings.
 
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management and play a key role in the development, management and oversight of the Company’s Data Protection Framework. The position would suit a person experienced in Data Protection ideally with experience within the financial services sector who is looking for a challenging and rewarding role in a growing organisation.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead out a robust Data Protection framework for the organisation.
  • Ensure the company meets all legal and regulatory requirements in relation to Data Protection including GDPR in conjunction with the Compliance Team.
  • Ensure that company policies are in compliance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and Data Protection Legislation. Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Evaluate the existing data protection framework to identify areas of no or partial compliance, and rectify any issues
  • Manage the Record of Processing activities and Retention of Data.
  • Carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments as required.
  • Devise training plans and provide data protection advice to staff members who are involved in data handling or processing.
  • Promote a culture of data protection and compliance across all areas of the company.
  • Providing reports to the Leadership Team on activities and identifying on-going improvements to the Compliance framework. Monitoring and management of internal and external risks that could affect the company and Credit Unions including risks to its employees, members, reputation, and assets, and assisting with managing and mitigating those risks.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
  • Performing any other reasonable task assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a great team to contribute to overall project goals

 
The successful candidate should ideally have the following attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Data Protection or compliance role in a financial services organisation. A relevant Data Protection qualification would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of Irish financial services’ regulatory framework and credit union legal and regulatory requirements would be an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with initiative and as part of an agile team and independently within a team environment.
  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet above criteria will be considered.

 
Salary is commensurate with experience. Occasional travel throughout Ireland required and work outside standard working hours.
