Finance Manager
Role Purpose
The Finance Manager reports to the Head of Finance & Internal Operations and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, shaping its overall direction, and ensuring efficient financial processes for ILCU and its subsidiaries. This includes preparing consolidated financial statements, monitoring investments, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Management
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance & Internal Operations, Leadership Team, and CEO to align financial operations with ILCU objectives
- Prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets, ensuring performance tracking, variance analysis, and corrective actions
- Provide financial advice, feasibility studies, and support for new services
Operational Finance Oversight
- Oversee financial operations, including accounts, payroll, payments, reconciliations, and reporting for ILCU and subsidiaries (ECCU, SPS, Internal Audit, and Foundation)
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, and payroll regulations, as well as adherence to accounting standards
- Prepare financial reports and statements for the Board and external auditors
Governance and Internal Controls
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard ILCU assets and cash flow
- Develop and update financial policies and ensure alignment with Board strategies and regulatory standards
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the Finance team, fostering performance and growth through goal-setting and reviews
- Act as the escalation point for complex financial issues and champion a customer-focused approach across interactions and processes
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with auditors, advisors, and other stakeholders.
- Support other ILCU teams by addressing queries and providing financial insights
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage bi-monthly VAT returns and ensure tax compliance.
- Ensure reconciliation of funds between insurance and accounting systems
- Undertake special projects and other duties as required by the Head of Finance & Internal Operations or CEO
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Essential: Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CFA).
- Desirable: Degree in business, economics, or related field; financial services or Credit Union governance qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience in accountancy, finance, or commercial environments
- Proven expertise in financial management, regulatory compliance, and team leadership
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information effectively
