Part Time Finance Officer

 

Macroom Credit Union Limited is a growing community-based credit union serving 9500 members.  In anticipation of further growth and development, Macroom Credit Union Limited requires a part-time Finance Officer. Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Officer will be a key member of the Management Team and will be responsible for the financial reporting within the Credit Union.

We are seeking a forward thinking, self- motivated individual to join our team and take on this challenging role. 

 

Key areas of responsibility will be:

 Finance and Investments
  • Manage the finance function.

  • Ensure fully documented financial control procedures are in place.

  • Assist the Investment Committee in the management of the Investment Portfolio and liaise with our investment advisors.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements regarding investments.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the departmental accounting systems, policies and procedures.

Management Team
  • Work as part of the management team to develop the credit union going forward.

  • Participate in credit union policy review process, where appropriate.

  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual business plan. 

 

The successful candidate will have a recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, ACA, CGMA, MIATI), current membership of a professional accounting body in Ireland and 3 years or more relevant post-qualification experience in practice or industry. They should also have extensive experience preparing financial/management accounts and knowledge and experience of investments.
 
The position will require a high level of computer literacy along with excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work on own initiative to deliver agreed targets within set timeframes and excellent analytical and data interrogation abilities.
Although not essential, recent experience in a Credit Union would be an advantage. Experience in the financial services industry would also be an advantage. A clear understanding of the ethos and operating principles of credit unions is desirable. 
 
Remuneration will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
