Finance Officer- Vacancy


Sheephaven Credit Union is seeking a Finance Officer to become one of our team at our office in
Carrigart, Co. Donegal. This is a part-time position 65 hours per month with flexibility in terms of when hours worked.
Reporting to the Credit Union Manager, the finance officer will have responsibility for ensuring that the accounts of the credit union are maintained in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.

Finance Officer will be accountable and responsible for the following:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts

  • Completion of revenue returns

  • Completing Central Bank reports

  • Preparations of forecasts

  • Preparation of quarterly variance reports

  • Advise on investments.

  • Prepare a quarterly loan book review.

  • Overall responsibility for managing daily cash balancing, bank reconciliation and paying suppliers invoices and payroll.

  • Have an input into relevant policies such as investment policy.

  • Other finance duties that may arise from time to time.


The Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications and skills which are desirable for the role:

  • Previous experience at a senior level of a finance function preferably in a financial institution/credit union.

  • Professional accounting qualification.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a finance or accountancy role.

  • At least 3 years’ of advising/reporting to senior management.

  • Strong IT capabilities.

  • Good administration and organisational skills.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • A good understanding of Financial Reporting Standards.

  • Team player, with the ability to work to deadlines.
