FINANCE OFFICER - TALLAGHT & DISTRICT CREDIT UNION LTD

Tallaght & District Credit Union wishes to appoint a full-time Finance Officer to assist the CEO and the management team in the finance function of the Credit Union.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for career growth, managing a finance function, and being part of the management team.



Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts

  • Complete daily reconciliation of all bank accounts and monthly reconciliation of investments

  • Complete weekly/monthly payroll and returns to Revenue as required

  • Complete daily balancing, transfers to bank accounts, petty cash and payment of creditors invoices

  • Document accounts preparation and reconciliation procedures and payroll procedures as required

  • Ensure the appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained

  • Prepare the quarterly Prudential Returns and other returns required by the Central Bank

  • Prepare the monthly financial reports and other committee reports for the Board of Directors

  • Work with the credit unions investment advisor to monitor and manage investments

  • Prepare the annual audit and work with the external auditor

  • Prepare for audits conducted by the internal auditors

  • Responsibility for the documentation and management of cash handling procedures within the credit union

  • Provide training and support in the area of cash handling and other relevant areas to employees

  • Support board policies

  • Assist the CEO with the evaluation, planning and implementing of strategic objectives and new business

 

Requirements

  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent)

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a credit union or financial services organisation and performing a similar role is required

  • Financial management skills are essential

  • Strong inter-personal, communication and IT skills, Progress Banking experience an advantage

  • Strong analytical skills, clear and concise writing skills, s self-starter mentality, and an ability to perform well independently and also contribute to the management team

  • The role is subject to strict Fitness & Probity obligations

The Credit Union will offer a competitive pay and benefits package including salary, pension and other benefits commensurate with the role.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
