Financial Controller / Qualified Accountant

Our Client, a Credit Union in South Dublin, is currently looking for a highly motivated Financial Controller/Qualified Accountant to join their team on an initial 6 month fixed term contract to cover a period of absence.

The Credit Union is going through an exciting period of change and the successful candidate will be a key member of the management team and will be expected to assist the CEO in delivering the strategic plan.

The Role:

The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO and be a key contributor in the Management Team. Responsible for the Finance function, they will effectively manage the department and provide accurate reporting and financial expertise to the CEO and Board of Directors.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the complete finance function of the credit union and oversee credit control

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to include Income and Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet.

  • Ensure completion of daily reconciliation on bank accounts and monthly reconciliation of investments.   

  • Co-ordinate and prepare regulatory filings

  • Liaising, and supporting risk, compliance and internal audit functions.   

  • Co-ordinate and facilitate the statutory annual audit with auditors, ensuring the timely production of statutory and internal financial reports. 

  • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes

  • Provide support to staff to ensure the successful implementation of targets, goals and objectives from the strategic plan 

  • Ensure appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained

Requirements:

  • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent) is essential

  • Knowledge and/or experience of the workings of a credit union or other financial institution would be a distinct advantage

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures to include statutory accounting

  • Strong excel and financial modelling skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Flexible attitude and a willingness to help out where needed

  • Strong Inter-personal and communication skills
