Head of Lending - Dublin
Our client, a large community credit union in South Dublin, is seeking to recruit a Head of Lending.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead and continue the development of the lending function of one of the largest community-based credit unions in Ireland, with assets of over €300 million and 70 employees, providing for the financial needs of its members in a co-operative and professional manner.
The Role
The Head of Lending is responsible for the ongoing successful delivery of the lending goals of the credit union. As such, the Head of Lending will provide leadership and oversight of the key lending functions including:
- Consumer credit, mortgages and SME lending
- Member service excellence
- Lending delivery through digital channels
- Lending compliance and policy development
- Development of lending products and services and channels
- Development of new lending opportunities (working alongside the Business Development Manager)
- Human resources – leadership, performance management, engagement, employee development in the lending team
The Head of Lending will be a key leader for the credit union and a member of the management team. He/she will foster positive relationships with the CEO and the senior management team, and ensure alignment and delivery on the strategic and operational goals, compliance and regulatory requirements, and the ongoing development of excellence in services to members, and growth of the credit unions lending offerings and channels of delivery. The Head of Lending will be an excellent people leader.
The Credit Union
The credit union is of one of the largest community-based credit unions in Ireland, based in South Dublin, with assets of over €300 million and 70 employees, operating across 8 branches and offering member services through a multi-channel approach. The credit union has invested heavily in technology to support the changing behaviour and needs of members.
Reporting
Reporting to the CEO.
The Person
The ideal person will have an established and proven track-record of success in lending preferably within the financial services, banking, fintech, or credit union sectors. He/she will have had a journey to senior management and a breadth and diversity of experience to be able to lead as Head of Lending of the credit union.
The ideal person will have experience in some of the following areas in the financial services sector:-
- senior level lending management
- years of experience in mortgages and SME lending
- strong consumer lending experience
- risk and compliance in financial services
- lending products and services development
- change management
- people leadership
The person will:
- have the commercial, operational and senior level management ability to lead lending at this level in a large community-based credit union
- have excellent leadership and management skills
- have the ability to build successful relationships with:
- the CEO and senior management team
- the lending team
- vendors/business partners and all internal and external stakeholders
- be comfortable in leading people and leading change
- be comfortable in leading for high standards
- be comfortable and tuned in to the ethos and values of a community based credit union
- have the ambition, drive, and energy to take the credit union forward in their areas of responsibility
- have a really strong member service ethos
- have the personal skills to engage as required at Board level.

Salary & Benefits
The Credit union will offer generous pay and benefits including salary, pension, and other benefits commensurate with the role and benchmarked with the market. Salary is negotiable, DOE and in line with the size of the credit union.
Contract & Hours
This is a full-time, permanent contract.
Flexibility in working hours will be essential, as the Head of Lending may be required to attend out of normal working hours Board and sub-committee meetings and represent the Credit union at appropriate events.
Location
The role is based in South Dublin.
Hybrid/Working from Home
Due to the nature of the role, the requirement is to work on-site at the credit union office. Only occasional WFH is facilitated.
