Head of Operations - Dublin
Our client, a large community credit union in South Dublin, is seeking to recruit a Head of Operations.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead and continue the development of the operations/member services functions of one of the largest community-based credit unions in Ireland. The role also offers the opportunity to lead a number of key areas across the credit union. The credit union has assets of over €300 million and 70 employees.
The Role
The Head of Operations is responsible for the ongoing successful delivery of the operational goals of the credit union. As such, the Head of Operations will provide leadership and oversight of key functions including:
- member service operations in multiple branches, operational compliance, member service excellence and delivery of a range of financial services to members
- services across the credit union such as human resource management, facilities management, asset management, security and health and safety
The Head of Operations will be a key leader for the credit union and a member of the senior management team. He/she will foster positive relationships with the CEO and the senior management team. He/she will be an excellent people leader for the operations team. He/she will ensure alignment and delivery on the strategic and operational delivery, compliance and regulatory requirements, and the ongoing development of excellence in services to members, and growth of the credit union offerings and channels of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Member Services
- member service operations across multiple branches with approx. 50 operations staff
- operational management in full regulatory compliance and in accordance with the risk appetite of the credit union
- member service excellence, continuing measurement and improvements in service quality
- delivery of a range of financial services to members,
- continuing development of the financial services offered to members in person and through digital channels
- human resources – leadership of the operations management team and employees, performance management, engagement, employee development, rota management
Service Across the Credit Union
- human resources - leadership of the HR, talent and retention function across the organisation including, HR systems, performance management, engagement, employee recruitment and development, qualifications and standards development.

- asset/equipment management
- security
- health and safety
The Credit Union
The credit union is of one of the largest community-based credit unions in Ireland, based in South Dublin, with assets of over €300 million and 70 employees, operating across 8 branches and offering member services through a multi-channel approach. The credit union has invested heavily in technology to support the changing behaviour and needs of members.
Reporting
Reporting to the CEO.
The Person
The ideal person will have an established and proven track-record of success in operations preferably within the financial services, banking, fintech, or credit union sectors. He/she will have had a journey to senior management and a breadth and diversity of experience to be able to lead as Head of Operations of the credit union.
The ideal person will have experience in some of the following areas in the financial services sector:-
- senior level management
- senior level operations management e.g. branch management, contact centre management, digital services management, back office management
- risk and compliance in financial services
- financial services business model development;
- products and services development
- project management
- change management
- human resources management
- corporate services such as facilities management, security, asset management, and health and safety
The person will:
- have the commercial, operational and senior level management ability to lead at this level in a large community-based credit union
- have the ability to build successful relationships with:
- the CEO and senior management team
- the operations management team and team members
- vendors/business partners and all internal and external stakeholders
- be comfortable in leading for change and for high standards
- have a really strong member service ethos
- be comfortable and tuned in to the ethos and values of a community based credit union
- have the ambition, drive, and energy to take the credit union forward in his/her areas of responsibility
- have the personal skills to engage at Board level as required

Salary & Benefits
The Credit union will offer generous pay and benefits including salary, pension, and other benefits commensurate with the role and benchmarked with the market. Salary is negotiable, DOE and in line with the size of the credit union.
Contract & Hours
This is a full-time, permanent contract.
Flexibility in working hours will be essential, as the Head of Operations is required to attend out of normal working hours Board and sub-committee meetings and represent the Credit union at appropriate events.
Location
The role is based in South Dublin.
Hybrid/Working from Home
Due to the nature of the role, the requirement is to work on-site at the credit union offices. Only occasional WFH is facilitated.
