Position: Lending Officer

Background

Athlone Credit Union is at the heart of the community in the Midlands for more than 50 years. We have assets of almost €95 million and two branch offices. We have recently launched our new Strategic Plan which aims to protect the future of our 19,500 members. We now wish to hire a Lending Officer to assist with the implementation of our new strategy.

 

Key Requirements of the role;

  1. Assisting the Head of Lending and Business Development in assessing, developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the lending processes and procedures in the credit union including:

    1. Recommending improvements to the lending policies and procedures

    2. Monitoring the adherence to lending procedures by the lending team

  2. Be a key component in the lending function of Athlone Credit Union including:

    1. Ensuring that all members loans are assessed in an efficient manner

    2. Members are served in a friendly and efficient manner

    3. Adhering to agreed practices and procedures

  3. In conjunction with the Risk, Compliance, Internal and External Audit functions ensure that control measurements in the lending process are adhered to

  4. Proactively participate in continuous training and development in order to provide the highest levels of service to members

  5. Support in the collating of procedures and compilation of a comprehensive Lending Manual.

  6. Keep up to date on loan promotional initiatives and new products and services being implemented within the credit union

  7. Undertake a detailed analysis and assessment on all types of loan applications, while making informed decisions, recommending approvals and/or declining applications in accordance with the Credit Union’s formal written Credit Policy.

  8. Adherence to the Lending Policy to ensure minimum risk of default on all loans. 

    The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Appropriate third level degree / professional qualification (e.g. QFA);

  • Comprehensive knowledge and 2 years’ experience in home loan lending and underwriting;

  • Comprehensive knowledge and 2 years’ experience in personal lending and loan underwriting;

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Strong ability to organise effectively, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly;
