General Scope of Role

Our Member Service Centre engages directly with our Members and provides an extremely high degree of service to them via telephone. This includes managing enquiries, providing access to online enquiries and applications, amending electronic payments, progressing loan applications, and dealing with general credit union enquiries.



We have an immediate requirement for Maternity Cover on our Member Service Team, which we expect will extend to the end of January 2024. We will provide training to the appropriate standard required in all aspects of the responsibilities below. The role will be non-member facing and the working week will be Tuesday to Saturday.


Reporting line: Operations Manager, Sligo Credit Union.

Principal Activities

Deal directly with members by phone to assist on:

  • Membership: Advising on documents required to join, assisting in setting up appointments for new members and gathering documentation in advance of membership, managing common bond queries, and helping with online membership.

  • Current Accounts: Processing current account applications, both online and in-house.

  • Online Access: Assisting members in setting up their online accounts and dealing with access queries.

  • Loan Applications: Dealing with member enquiries, collecting applications/documents, ensuring completeness of documentation, and explaining repayments and loan features. Additionally, assisting members in arranging drawdown remotely, or at our offices, and progressing loan applications to lenders for a decision.

  • Electronic Payments: Assist members in setting up or amending electronic payments.

  • Expert Revenue Systems (XRS): Setting up XRS payments for members.


  • General:
  • Answering members online enquiries and questions.

  • Assisting members with enquiries on all aspects of benefits of credit union membership, including Life Assurance, Loan Protection, Foreign Exchange, Debit Card etc.

  • Working closely with all departments; keeping up to date on new developments.

  • Ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of compliance and governance. In particular, our obligations under statutory areas such as Anti Money Laundering and Data Protection are extremely relevant. 


Key Attributes

The ideal candidate should have:

  • QFA or CUA qualified is an advantage.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.

  • Helpful and friendly manner in dealing with our members.

  • Strong knowledge of our services and willing to commit to continuous learning to keep up to date with changes in policy, legislation, and governance. 

  • Excellent customer service knowledge.
