Contract:                   Full Time Permanent (35 Hours)
Reporting To:           Credit Control Manager

Remuneration:         25,220 to 30,136 depending on experience & qualifications
                                         Defined Contribution Occupational Pension
                                         Employee contributes 6.5% with an optional 2%

Health Service Staffs Credit Union (HSSCU) continues to grow and develop across our nationwide common bond. A brand new role has become available. The MSO Credit Support primary focus is to monitor loans from ‘cradle to grave’ i.e., at the beginning and end of all loans. The role will entail monitoring all newly issued loans and checking that the first payment is made on time. It will involve contacting members immediately where the first payment is subject to delay, chasing up the appropriate paperwork and requesting a manual payment when necessary.  It will also include contacting the member at the end of the loan to ask them if they wish to stop their ongoing payment or indeed apply for another loan, producing reports and recommending process improvements. This role will report into the Credit Control Manager.

Role Description:     

  • Monitor all new loans issues to ensure the first payment is set up correctly and on time

  • In cases where there is a failure in the process, consult with other departments to establish what went wrong

  • Contact members where necessary to resolve the issue

  • Ensure any required paperwork is completed and processed.

  • Monitor all loans which are close to their completion date and contact all members to encourage them to stop their ongoing payment and/or to apply for another loan when their loan is completed

  • Produce reports showing status of new loan payments and contacts made with members who have loans nearing completion

  • Identify the need for changes to existing processes and recommend changes required

  • Assist in report creation and design for credit control purposes

  • Work closely with the Credit Control/ Lending & Operations team regarding the Lending process

Persons Specification

  • Strong/ Expert level of excel

  • Strong knowledge of the HSSCU Loans issuing process and policies

  • Willing to question existing processes and suggest improvements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong member focus both internally and externally

  • Methodical with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under own initiative with minimal direction

Qualifications & Relevant Experience

  • Minimum Competency Qualification in line with the Central Bank of Ireland’s Minimum Competency Code suitable for lending and sale of Payment Protection Insurance. (APA in Loans or Pathways Diploma)

  • Excellent IT Skills particularly Microsoft Office

  • Strong/ Expert level of excel (or willingness to study to reach expert level

  • 18 months to 24 months experience in a similar role or Members service officer role is desirable.
