Member Services Officer
St Michael’s Credit Union is seeking a motivated and member-focused individual to join our team as a Member Services Officer.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager (Operations), the Member Services Officer plays a key role in delivering an excellent experience to both existing and new members. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and development of St Michael’s Credit Union and help us to remain a financial institution of choice within the communities we serve.
The position will have a variety of tasks including:

Providing members with a courteous professional service face to face, via phone, email etc. ,

Processing of counter and off counter transactions, including payments, lodgements, express lodgements, withdrawals, taking card payments, processing SCTs, EFT’s and all online transactions, including bill payments and foreign exchange. Etc

Other duties such as processing the data input of loan applications and issuing approved loans in an accurate and confidential manner subject to the authorised limits granted by your line manager.

Accurate handling of cash & reconciling daily balances.

Dealing with new member applications.

Dealing with member queries in a competent manner and responding within an appropriate timeframe.

Assisting members with their account management , helping members avail of the range of services offered by SMCU – loans, payroll deduction, direct debit, standing order, online registrations etc).

Updating member accounts and general account maintenance.

Backoffice administration/operational support duties as may be required and /or requested by management - e.g processing standing order / payroll, online applications, document management, filing ,scanning membership & loan applications, telephone answering etc in accordance with any rotas, member demand and operational needs.

Data protection – ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, regulations and credit union policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities will include:

Providing members with a courteous, professional and efficient service in person, by telephone, email and through other service channels.

Processing member transactions accurately, including payments, lodgements, withdrawals, card payments, electronic transfers, bill payments and other online transactions.

Supporting the processing of loan applications and issuing approved loans, within authorised limits and in accordance with credit union procedures.

Accurately handling cash and reconciling daily balances.

Processing new member applications.

Responding to member queries in a professional and timely manner.

Supporting members in accessing and using the range of services provided by the Credit Union, including loans, payroll deduction, direct debits, standing orders and online services.

Updating member accounts and carrying out general account maintenance.

Undertaking back-office administrative and operational duties as required, including processing applications, document management, filing, scanning and telephone support.

Ensuring compliance with data protection requirements and relevant Credit Union policies and procedures.

Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role as may reasonably be required to support member and operational needs

Desirable qualifications and experience

Previous experience in customer service, financial services, administration or a similar environment.

A relevant professional qualification, particularly in finance or business.
-
An accredited qualification such as QFA, CUA, ACCUP or APA Loans, or a willingness to work towards a relevant qualification. Where the successful candidate does not currently hold an appropriate qualification, the Credit Union will provide financial support towards obtaining one.

Good keyboard and IT skills.

An understanding of the credit union ethos and movement.

Additional relevant skills or experience, for example in marketing or business development.
