Position: Money Laundering Reporting Officer

Reporting to the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer, this full-time permanent position will be responsible for ensuring Midleton Credit Union complies with both domestic and European anti money laundering & counter terrorist financing legislation.
Experience in the credit union sector is desirable but not essential.  Relevant financial services experience would include working in an anti-money laundering role in a credit union, bank, finance company, insurance company, life assurance / pension companies, stockbroker, intermediary or other entity regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Key Deliverables

  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies, procedures of the Credit Union and its related activities to assure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations associated with Anti Money Laundering (AML).

  • To conduct an annual risk assessment relating to AML and incorporate conclusions into current policies and requirements.

  • Manages day-to-day operation of the MLRO function, including agreeing with management remediation plans for all incidences of non-compliance with policy/procedure and follow up implementation on a timely basis.

  • Identifies potential areas of AML vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

  • Develops a regular monitoring procedures and practices to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of AML internal systems of control and measures implemented by the Credit Union.

  • Develop an effective training programs, including appropriate introductions to new officers as well as ongoing training for all officers of the Credit Union.

  • Prepare reports on a regular basis, to the Directors and the Chief Executive Officer, on anti-money laundering matters.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Experience and qualifications relevant to the role (i.e. LCOI / CUC / Legal / Accounting qualification, etc.)

  • A minimum of two years working in a similar role within an entity regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland

  • Knowledge and understanding of AML/CFT regulatory environment governing credit unions

  • Computer literacy and excellent analytical and report writing skills.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is a controlled function within the Central Bank of Ireland’s fitness and probity regime.
