Teller Position

Summary of Role:

Tellers are accountable to the Manager of the credit union for carrying out a range of operational and administrative activities that contribute to the effective running of the credit union and providing quality services to the members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  1. Processing transactions relevant to the sub-offices.

  2. Dealing with all filing of correspondence, photocopying and typing as required.

  3. Computer inputting and printouts.

  4. General office work, post shredding etc.

  5. Filing of membership application forms; loan application forms; insurance forms etc.

  6. Dealing with members concerning lodgements and withdrawals.

  7. Balancing and Lodging receipts, processing small loans within agreed limits set by the management and board.

  8. Checking lists of adult and juvenile members and keeping then up to date.

  9. Answering the telephone and ensuring that telephone messages are passed on to the correct person.

  10. Preparing lodgements for the bank.

Ideal Requirements:

It would be advantageous to have previous experience in a credit union or other financial organisation, have strong interpersonal skills and be computer literate. Having a relevant qualification, or being prepared to study for same, will be an advantage.
This part-time position involves working from Monday to Saturday.
Competitive salary and benefit package will be offered, based on the Teller Salary Scale.
