Martin Busch
Director ILCU

 

Martin-Busch.JPGMartin has just concluded his term in office as the President of the ILCU, having been a member of the ILCU Board previously. He has been a member of the Board of Lisburn Credit Union Limited for over 35 years. Martin is retired from a career in sales and marketing.

Alongside his role as President of the Irish League of Credit Unions, Martin is a qualified Credit Union Development Educator, having graduated in Edinburgh in 2011. He currently supports Development Educators Europe (DEEU) as a mentor to new students.

What do you think is the greatest contribution that credit unions make?

Empowering everyone to have some savings for a rainy day fund. This helps mental health and general confidence.

As an ILCU Board / Supervisory Committee member, what do you hope to achieve during your term?

Unity in credit unions on the Island of Ireland.

If you were Minister of State for Credit Unions, what one change would you make?

I would separate credit unions from banking regulations. Freeing us up to put our attention more towards supporting our communities in general welfare of all citizens.
