ILCU appoints Emmet Oliver as Head of Marketing & Communications

7th April 2017: The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) is delighted to announce the appointment of Emmet Oliver as Head of Marketing and Communications. Emmet will direct the ILCU’s communications, marketing and media team in his new role which is effective immediately. His focus will be ensuring the credit union movement continues to be a strong player in financial services sector.

Emmet is joining the ILCU with approximately 20 years’ experience in corporate communications and financial journalism.  Previously, he spent almost five years as Director of Corporate Communications at IDA Ireland and most recently headed up European communications at BioMarin Pharmaceuticals, a Californian healthcare company.

Prior to his communications roles, he spent several years as a business editor at leading national newspaper groups including The Irish Times and Independent News & Media and also presented Newstalk’s Down to Business programme.

“The credit union movement remains integral to Ireland’s financial services sector and I am looking forward to seeing it develop and innovate in the years ahead. As a major part of the economy, a healthy and vibrant credit union sector is something everyone should have an interest in,” said Emmet.

Welcoming Emmet to the new role, ILCU CEO Ed Farrell said “Emmet’s career to date has been extremely impressive and he has extensive knowledge and specialist experience at the highest level of corporate communications.
