Unsolicited Calls offering Personal Loans for Christmas

Posted on: 16 Dec 2019

The Irish League of Credit Unions has been made aware that some members of the public have received phone calls which purport to be from a representative of the Irish League of Credit Unions. The caller offers the person a personal loan, and when the person expresses an interest, the caller asks for some additional information and then advises the person they have been approved for the loan. In order to access the loan, the person is asked to make a payment of €150.

Members of the public should be aware that the Irish League of Credit Unions is a representative body for credit unions and does NOT provide loans..

If anyone receives a phone call in this regard they should not make any payments and should report the call immediately to An Garda Siochana.
