Credit Union Art Competition 2011

The Credit Union Poster Competition continues to be one of the most successful annual promotions undertaken by the credit union movement. However, in recent years the appeal of this competition has been somewhat limited due to the nature of the restrictions imposed on artists.

In an effort to broaden the appeal of the competition and to build on the existing success of the Poster Competition the competition will now be called The Credit Union Art Competition, this will have a number of implications for creative freedom.

Changes to this year’s competition include:

1.   The theme of this year’s Competition is no longer restricted to a credit union international day theme which was very restrictive creatively and because of its narrow focus often delivered repetitive types of artwork.

2.   As this is now an Art Competition there is no need for the artist to illustrate the text of the theme on the art piece.  What we are looking for is how they interpret the theme through their art.

3.   All entries must be submitted on either A3 (420 x 297mm) or A2 (594 x 420mm) size paper or board and must be in a landscape shape not portrait as in previous years.

4.   Winners of each category will be used in the annual credit union calendar with all national prize recipients listed on the inside of the cover of the calendar.

These changes will help broaden the appeal of the competition with 2nd level and 3rd level art students as well as the general public in large throughout all age categories. As you can see the credit union logo, brand and messaging has not been diluted by these changes.

The theme for this year’s competition is:

       ‘Ireland through my eyes’
