ILCU response to publication of Minimum Competency Code 2017

Posted on: 01 Sep 2017

The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) today notes the publication by the Central Bank of Ireland of the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) 2017

The ILCU and its affiliated credit unions acknowledge that continuous training and development is critical in order to provide the best possible service to members, evidenced by more than 4,500 credit union officers having completed an ILCU accredited qualification to date.

The ILCU welcomes the Central Bank’s decision to undertake further work to gain a better understanding of the impact of potential changes on credit union core activities. This will be important in order to determine an appropriate approach, which recognises the unique ethos and nature of credit unions. The ILCU had strongly advocated this approach in its response to the consultation.

The ILCU will continue to work with the Central Bank of Ireland in this regard.
